India has one of the largest youth populations in the world. Since many young people appear for various competitive examinations to secure government jobs, they often ask questions such as: “Will I succeed in this exam or that exam?” They also ask, “How will my professional life be?”, “When will I reach the top of my career?”, “Which dasha is best for me?”, “Which direction will suit me?”, and “Which city is good for me?” There are countless such queries.
As an astrologer with over 20 years of experience and more than 10,000 satisfied clients, I can assure you that the Horary method is the best approach for answering certain queries, while for others, the natal birth chart explains everything.
Let us now consider the query of a client, around 27 years of age, who had been preparing for the UPSC examination for the past three years. He asked:
“Will I succeed in the UPSC examination this year? “
The query was asked on 2 April 2023. He gave the Horary Number 170. The chart was prepared for 19:45:32, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
For determining success in examinations, I follow a simple KP rule: the 6th house cuspal sublord must signify the 1st, 6th, and 11th houses for success. Let us examine this chart to determine whether success is indicated.
Step 1: Checking the Genuineness of the Query
The first step in analysing a horary chart is to determine whether Chandra (the Moon) is indicating the query.
Here, the Lagna sublord is Chandra. Chandra is in the star of Ketu, which is placed in the 11th house, while Chandra itself is placed in the 5th house. Since the 1st and 6th houses are connected, the query is genuine.
Step 2: Examining the 6th Cuspal Sublord
The 6th cuspal sublord is Shukra (Venus). It is placed in its own nakshatra, Bharani, with Budh (Mercury) as the sublord and Shani (Saturn) as the sub-sub lord (SSL).
Since Shukra is in its own star, it signifies the 5th, 6th, and 11th houses. However, as the 5th house is stronger than the 6th and 11th houses, my initial impression was that the native would succeed.
Nevertheless, because the 6th and 11th houses were also signified, I proceeded to examine the sublord, which is Budh (Mercury). Budh signifies the 4th, 7th, and 10th houses, which are not favourable for success in competitive examinations.
I then examined the sub-sub lord (SSL), Shani (Saturn), which signifies the 2nd and 3rd houses.
Based on this analysis, I concluded that the person would not succeed in the examination. I informed the querent that success in this examination appeared unlikely. However, as he was quite confident about his success, he did not believe my prediction.
A few days ago, I noticed that I still had his contact number saved, so I inquired about his result. He replied that he had not qualified.
